THE IDEOLOGY

Mrs Rake Magazine is a bi-annual supplement to The Rake, alike a women’s equivalent to The Rake magazine featuring classic elegance and very often, influential fashionistas and classic movie stars as well. 

 

I always like the idea of merging fashion, jewellery and timepieces in an editorial using a narrative approach. Fashion photography and fashion styling to me is not only about aesthetics. I like crafting each image with significant elements, working on building layers in relation to the concept, and not just leaving them to casual occurrences. I gave substantial thought from the casting of models, to the selection of individual clothing, jewellery and watches, even to the setting and spotlight-style lighting adopted. 

 

One of my favourite style icon is Andy Warhol’s Factory superstar Edie Sedgwick, even thou she existed before my time. I have always been intrigued by her life story, her instantaneous rise to fame yet inspired by her peculiar and trendsetting fashion styles. 

 

This photo spread is also a tribute to Edie Sedgwick - one of fashion history’s greatest muse, and like a shooting star, she rose to brightness and sadly descended so shortly.
